CLASSROOM POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

INTRODUCTION

Earth Science connects the study of the Earths composition, structure processes, and history; its atmosphere, fresh water and oceans; and its environment in space. Historical contributions in the development of scientific thought about the Earth and space are emphasized. Interpretation of maps, chars, tables, and profiles; use of technology to collect analyze, and report data; and science skills in systematic investigation are stressed.  Problem solving and decision making are an integral part of Earth Science, especially as they relate to the costs and benefits of utilizing the Earths resources.  Major topics of study include plate tectonics, the rock cycle, Earth history, the oceans, the atmosphere, weather and climate, and the solar system and universe.  Experimentation is integrated with theory and math analysis in this class.  The use of computer technology is emphasized.  This class will prepare students for the Earth Science End of Course SOL test required for graduation.
